Biography of Charles Hugh Stewart
Charles Hugh Stewart graduated MB ChB from the University in 1929.
Born in Oakland, California, USA, he was the son of Hugh Alexander Stewart, a 'law student' upon his son's first matriculation at the University in 1910. Stewart first entered the University in the summer session of 1910, aged twenty-two, and then studied Medicine intermittently between 1910-13 and 1919-24.
During the First World War, it appears that he was an orderly in the Royal Army Medical Corps, and further evidence suggests that he became a naturalised British citizen in September 1939, while resident in Manchester.
Stewart died in Glasgow on 23 January 1950.
