Biography of John Parsell

John Parsell matriculated at the University as an Arts student in 1838, but did not pursue studies at Glasgow after that year. In 1841, he was working as a clerk.

Parsell was connected with various London Theatres as an actor, manager, and playwright from 1847. He went to America with the Wyndham Theatre Company in 1873, and became manager of New York's Union Square Theatre until 1885. He died on 17 February 1885, while performing at Union Square.
