Biography of James Richmond Thomson
James Richmond Thomson graduated BSc from the University in 1911. He was born in 1890 in Toronto, Canada, son of joiner Henry Thomson.
Thomson came to study Engineering at the University of Glasgow in 1908, aged 18. During his time at Glasgow, James undertook classes in Maths, Natural Philosophy and Engineering drawing (1908-09); Higher Natural Philosophy, Chemistry and Physics Lab (1909-10); Engineering Lab and Engineering Drawing (1910-11). After graduation in 1911, Thomson worked as an engineer, residing in Clydebank.
