Biography of Carlo La Torre
Carlo La Torre graduated BSc in Naval Engineering from the University of Glasgow in 1904. He was born in La Spezia, Italy, to Vittorio La Torre, a retired Commander of the Italian Navy.
In 1896 La Torre enrolled to study Science, specialising in Naval Architecture. During his time at the University he studied Mathematics, Analytical and Systematic Chemistry, Naval Architecture, and Natural Philosophy under Lord Kelvin. La Torre went on to work for the engineering firm Corrie MacColl & Son in London.
