Biography of Millie May Josephine Peralta
Millie May Josephine Peralta graduated from the University of Glasgow as a MB ChB in 1943.
She was born in Valletta in 1906. Her father, Alphonse Hugh, was a retired civil servant.
Peralta started her Medical degree as a mature student in 1936, at the age of 30, and took classes such as Zoology, Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy, Botany, Physics, Physiology, Clinical Surgery, Pathology, Paediatrics, Midwifery and Gynaecology.
Peralta worked in obstetrics and gynaecology, and between 1952 and 1966 worked in mission hospitals in Pakistan, India and West Africa. In 1966 she returned to the UK, where she worked in West Middlesex hospital in London before undertaking general practice in Brixton. She died in 1986 at the age of 80.
