Biography of Ernest Thomas Keay Walker

Ernest Thomas Keay Walker graduated MB CM from the University on 4 November 1897.

Walker was born in the state of Alabama on 16 June 1871, the son of William Walker, a doctor who settled with his family in Grangemouth.

Walker first matriculated in 1891-92, aged 20, joining the Faculty of Medicine. During his six years of study, he attended classes in Botany, Chemistry, Hospital, Materia Medica, Medicine, (both Clinical and Forensic), Midwifery, Natural History, Pathology, Pharmacy, Physiology, Surgery, Zoology and advanced classes in Anatomy.

After graduation, he lived in Wishaw for eight years before moving to Falkirk in 1906. In 1910, he moved again to Tinsley, Sheffield, where he established a partnership with William Christopher Jardine until 1914, when the partnership was dissolved. In 1932, he received a postgraduate Diploma of Public Health from the city of Sheffield, where he remained as a physician for the rest of his life.
