Biography of Drissa McQuarr Yilla
Drissa McQuarr Yilla graduated MB ChB from the University in 1957. He was born in Kambia, Freetown, Sierra Leone, in 1926, to Lamin Kindo, a farmer. Yilla matriculated at the University of Glasgow in 1951, enrolling in classes in Zoology, Physics, Botany, and Chemistry. Upon graduating from the University of Glasgow, Yilla moved back to his hometown of Kambia, Sierra Leone, to practice Medicine, later moving to Bo, in the Southern Province. Yilla became an influential public servant, politician and entrepreneur. He married Serah Helen Faser and together they had four children, Drissa Jnr, Sadia, Mamadi and Serah.
