Biography of Nathan Morris

Nathan Morris graduated MA from the University in 1927, and DLitt in 1937. He was born in Novogrudek, Russia, modern day Navahrudak, Belarus, son of Lazan-Ber, a teacher.

Morris enrolled at the University in 1924, and took classes in Logic, Hebrew, Arabic, and Russian, taking the latter three subject to honours, and graduating MA in 1927. Morris went on to graduate MA in London, before returning to the University of Glasgow where he obtained a DLitt on 13 November 1937 with his thesis The Jewish school: an introduction to history of Jewish education.

Morris was Headmaster of the Talmud Torah in Glasgow's Southside and Principal of the Glasgow Hebrew College. In 1937, he moved to London where he became an education officer.
