Biography of Thomas Tate
Thomas Tytz was born in Tauroggen, Kovno Gubernia, Russia, modern day Tauragé, in Lithuania, son of Samuel Tytz, a drapery traveller. Tytz enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1920 for one year to study Mercantile Law.
Thomas remained in Scotland where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant, and in 1928 changed his name to Thomas Tate.
