Biography of Cotton Mather
Cotton Mather was conferred an honorary DD from the University of Glasgow in 1710. He was one of the most influential religious leaders of his time. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1663, son of Increase Mather, another prominent New England Puritan minister.
As a Harvard graduate (AB 1678, AM 1681), Mather followed in his father's footsteps as a hugely influential Puritan minister and prolific writer.
