Biography of Arthur Samuel Leighton Decker
Taiwo Arthur Samuel Leighton-Decker graduated from the University with an MB ChB in 1936.
He was born in Murraytown, Sierra Leone, son of Joseph, a surveyor and draughtsman for the Nigerian Government at Calabar. In 1921, Leighton-Decker was enrolled at the Church Missionary Society School at Freetown by his father, who was then transferred to Lagos (where he died on 24 May 1927).
Leighton-Decker enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1928, graduating MB ChB in 1936. He returned to Sierra Leone. He also published letters sent to him by his father adding his own comments in My Dear Taiwo. How an old boy of the Sierra Leone Grammar School urged his son to pursue (1948).
