Władysław Zew Weindling, later known as Walter Weyndling, graduated BSc from the University in 1957.

He was born in Kraków, Poland, son of an eminent architect, Roman Weindling, whose biography he published in 1995.

Weyndling enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1939, aged 18, to study Engineering, attending classes in Mathematics, Applied Mechanics, Applied Physics, Aeronautical Engineering, Naval Architecture, and Heat Engineering. He graduated BSc in Naval Engineering on 12 October 1957.

An apprentice engineer in a Glasgow shipyard, Weyndling served as a member of the Admiralty Naval Construction Department during the Second World War II, and became a British citizen in 1946 while serving as temporary civil servant based in Bath, England. After the War, he continued to work as a Naval Architect, working for the Board of Trade as a ship surveyor and accident investigator on the east and west coasts of Scotland.

As well as producing academic articles on shipbuilding, and receiving a patent in 1959 for the Telescopic Keel with Walter Norman Kemp, Weyndling published two books on the twentieth-century Scottish boat industry inspired by his own work and experiences in Scotland, Ferry Tales of Argyll and the Isles and West Coast Tales; Riveters, Wrecks and Ring-netters.

He died in 2004 in Winchester, Hampshire, England.
