Nachemia Potok graduated BSc from the University in 1941 and PhD in 1956.

Potok was born on 4 July 1919 in Zawiercie, southern Poland. He was one of many Polish students who came to study at the University during the Interbellum period, matriculating in 1938.

Nachemia attended classes in Mathematics, Natural Philosophy, Inorganic Chemistry and Engineering drawing, and was a high-achieving student. He first graduated from the University in 1941 with a First Class BSc in Electrical Engineering.

Potok spent most of his life living in the UK pursuing his academic career as an electrical engineer, and obtained UK citizenship, adopting the British Christian names Michael Henry in 1947. In this same year he was a Serving Officer in His Majesty's Forces, based in Leicester.

Michael Henry Nachemia Potok returned to the University in 1952 as a PhD research student in Engineering. He graduated PhD in 1956 with the thesis entitled Generation and Measurement of Microwaves.

Potok continued his academic career, publishing Physics of Microwave Semiconductor Diodes with Sergei Nikolaevich Ivanov and Reuben Casper Glass in 1969. He was also a Technical Officer in the Department of Physics (Cavendish Laboratory) at the University of Cambridge from 1958-59.
