Biography of Peter Hately Waddell
Peter Hately Waddell graduated MA from the University in 1901.
He was born in Singapore, son of James, a Scottish engineer. The family returned to Glasgow where Waddell was educated at Kelvinside Academy before enrolling at the University of Glasgow 1898. He studied the subjects of Latin, Greek, History, English, Prose and Logic, graduating MA in 1901. Waddell was awarded the Snell Exhibition in 1901, which enabled him to undertake his postgraduate study at Balliol College, University of Oxford, from where he graduated BA in 1905. Waddell went on to work for the India Civil Service. After his retirement in 1832, Waddell served between 1942-43 with the 3rd Sussex Home Guard during the Second World War.
