Biography of William Elder MacDonald
William Elder MacDonald, was born in Blantyre, Nyasaland part of British Central Africa, modern day Mandala, Malawi. His father was the Reverend Duff MacDonald, who was head of the Blantyre Church of Scotland Mission.
MacDonald enrolled at the University in 1897, along with his brother James George, to study for an Arts degree. He attended classes in German (honours), Latin (honours), Moral Philosophy (honours), Logic, Political Economy, Mathematics, History, Constitutional Law, and Constitutional History, graduating MA in 1901.
