Biography of George Ferguson Allan
Captain George Ferguson Allan of the RAMC attended the High School of Glasgow. He studied at the University, graduating MB, ChB in October 1939, and became a Resident House Surgeon at the Victoria Infirmary.
Allan joined the Royal Army Medical Corps in May 1940 and went to Singapore in the Autumn of the following year. He was captured by the Japanese when Singapore fell in February 1942, and was engaged as a prisoner of war in the construction of railways in Thailand. In 1944 he was sent back to Singapore en route to Japan, but the transport ship on which he sailed was torpedoed on or about 13 September 1944 and he was presumed killed.
