Biography of James Brodie Reid
Flying Officer James Brodie Reid of the RAFVR was born in Glasgow and attended the High School there. He matriculated at the University in 1942 to study Engineering and joined the Air Training Corps. In July 1943 he joined the RAF.
Reid completed his pilot's training in South Africa. He was posted to Poona in the summer of 1945 and then to 194 Squadron in the Rangoon area, flying Dakota transport aircraft from Mingaladon Airport to Calcutta, Colombo, Georgetown and Singapore. He was killed on 12 February 1946 when his plane crashed while taking off in southern Burma.
