This charm, which originates in Bandawe on the west coast of lake Malawi (previously Lake Nyasa and known as Lago Niassa in Mozambique) is composed of a tooth, possibly from the pig family, reshaped by filing and polished, strung at one end onto a double-twist length of vegetable fibre.
